Here we have a very good picture from our recent contributor David Guenot, showing us the beautiful morning lights over the Pic the Soularac as seen from Samatan, France.

A calm morning on that day provided the very specific conditions that are needed for long distant sights, and the result is impressive.

We  look forward to more pictures from you David!

Here we have a great idea to see the main chain of the Alps from the distance with great results!

And it is even next to the magnificient place of “Lago di Garda”, so double the reason to go there and have a look. It seems it will be impressive to see a clear sunset from there on a good day!

Thank you Adrian for sharing this with us.

Great start for the new category “Iceland”!

We didn’t have any picture from this beautiful island before, but Josep Manchado has surprised us with this great view of the volcano Snaeffeljokull.

The picture is taken from near Reykyavik at almost sea level. Always impressive when the silhouettes of distant peaks appear above the horizon, and even more when is it more than 100 kilometers away

Here we have an amazing view taken from near the Apennines, in a Natural Park called Parco Naturalle delle Capanne di Marcarolo.

A place with a great potential for distant sights, as it offers a very good position to view over the surrounding mountains: all the Eastern Alps at once!

Impressive and clear picture of Mt. Rainier, elevating to 4.392 meters above sea level, captured from almost this very same sea level.

It is always a very good sign of a clear atmosphere when such a picture can be taken so close to the ground.

Thank you Patrick for sharing with us this picture!

In the village of La Almolda, next to the famous spanish city of Zaragoza, there is an ancient monastery on top an small hill (590 meters above sea level), with some of the greatest short-sight views of the Pyrenees.

Beautiful image here from Charles, on a fantastic clear day in Canary Islands!

As the author says: “From the summit of Gran Canaria it is frequent to see Tenerife and the Teide (3718 m high). Sometimes when the visibility is very good, one can distinguish more details and colors.

In the pictures, Tenerife islands seems to fly, because the visibility below an inversion layer is strongly reduced.

In a clear day in Sierra Nevada, Spain, enjoying the recent snow, I noticed something rising over the horizon.

A very iconic mountain, La Sagra, was looking at us from 120 kilometers away. It is an isolated mountain with more than 2.ooo meters and a clear view over the rest of the area. Really a good sighting and also a visit worth it!
