Josep quotes: “At sunrise, there was not only a clear view of the Pyrenees (from Andorra to Panticosa) but also Moncayo peak was visible, in the “Sistema Iberico”, at 218 km. away.”

If there is a Master when it comes to photograph Canigó peak, he is Bruno.

We are used to have from him several high quality pictures of Canigó taken from various locations around Marseille, and in this case it is no exception.

It comes with a great deal of planification and preparation to capture the sun setting just against the desired target, and in the picture above this is done with absolute mastery.

205 kilometers is such a distance that, when you are able to see though it, it seems like magic.

Ridges, snow caps, summits… Every detail in this picture is almost perfectly visible as a high pressure system set over northern Spain, allowing this clear views on sunset.

For those that know this website for a while, you will notice that this is not the first picture taken from Poqueira refuge, in Sierra Nevada, South of Spain,

This magnificient view was also observed and captured almost (exactly) 5 years ago, from the same place, and at the sime time.

This is a great place to see Africa from Europe, and one of the most beautiful ones.

Regardless of whether you are travelling by plane, by car next to Chamonix or doing some trekking 200 kilometers away, it is always a shape to recognize in the horizon, and even more when the day is as clean as this one here.

Beautiful details around the peak we can see in this image: while the surroundings are still covered with shadows, the summit as already met the sun and its orange colors are starting to fill the picture.

I now wonder how amazing it would had been to see this scene from the very summit that day.

Even with not the perfect conditions, Monte Perdido is always a landmark in the horizon when trying to see the Pyrenees from a long distance.

It is a mountain that can be easily seen from Spain, but that is almost hidden behind other high peaks when is seen from France. This may be the reason for its name, as Monte Perdido is Spanish means “Lost Mountain”.

Again another example of the great day that happened almoste 3 years ago, when almost all the peaks in the Pyrenees were able to be seen from a single viewing location.

Exceptionally good visibility conditions allowed us to see further than 250 kilometers away, covering the whole range, from the peaks in Navarra to the peaks in Cataluña.

Moving moutains, or refration doing its job in long distance pictures.

The above images show the very same mountains on the same day, just separated by a handful of minutes. In this time the layers of air are moving enough to change the direction of the beams of light, thus modifying the layout of the complete view.

As you can see, it almost seems that the mountains are growing in seconds!

One of the traditional lines of sights of Spain, that has been many times captured during the last decades, now has a place in Beyond Horizons as well.

A very cold and windy morning of February, just after the sunrise, the conditions were met to achieve more than 200 kilometers, even though the conditions averall were not so good.

Take a look at the building in the bottom right corner!
